JANIS
Born in 1940, died 2008.
Professional training – Janis Rozentals Art School of
Riga (1954 – 1958), Latvian Academy of Arts, Painting
Department (1958 – 1964) – under the supervision of
prof. E. Kalnins.
Has been contributing to exhibitions since 1966. Member
of Latvian Artists' Union since 1970. Member of
Association "B – 13" since 1993.
Has participated regularly in group exhibitions in
Latvia, Russia, Germany, England, Sweden, Israel, France
and other countries. One-man shows in
Riga(1997),Ventspils(1996),Smiltene(1990),Lapmezciems(1988)
His works are to be found in the collection of the State
Art Museum and Latvian Artists' Union, as well as in many
private collections in Latvia and abroad.
Currently professor at the Latvian Academy of Arts. Head
of Painting department.
