ANDRIS ZACESTS

Born in 1950. Professional training – Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga (1962 – 1969), Latvian Academy of Arts, Painting Department (1969 – 1975) – graduated from prof. I. Zarins Master Studio. Enhanced his skills at the St. Petersburg Art Academy and Vilnius Art Institute.
Has been contributing to exhibitions since 1974. Member of Association "B – 13" since 1993.
Has had four solo shows in Latvia and participated in group exhibi- tions in Riga, Moscow, Germany.
His works are to be found in the collections of the State Art Museum and Latvian Artists' Union as well as in private collections in Latvia and abroad.
Currently teaching at the Latvian Art Academy.

"I am enthralled by the classical values of painting, meta- physical nature of things and their symbolic significance. In my work I am trying to combine that with the paradoxical thinking of contemporary art."
