RITA VALNERE

Born in 1929. Professional training – Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga (1945 – 1949), Latvian Academy of Arts, Painting Department (1949 – 1956) – under the supervision of prof. E. Kalnins.
Has been contributing to exhibitions since 1955. Member of Latvian Artists' Union since 1957. Member of Association "B – 13" since 1993.
Has had several solo shows in Riga, Moscow, Madona, Jurmala, Saldus, Auce. Has participated regularly in group exhibitions in Riga (Latvia), Moscow, St.Petersburg (Russia), Vilnius (Lithuania),  Bulgaria, Poland, Bremen, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Colon (Germany), France, USA, China, Luxembourg and other places.
Her works are to be found in the collections of the State Art Museum of Latvia and Latvian Artists' Union, Gekosso Gallery in Japan, Tretiakov Galery in Moscow (Russia) and Ministry of Culture of Russia, Tukums Art Museum (Latvia), as well as in many private collections in Latvia, India, Germany, USA, Japan. Ms Mitterrand and Prime-minister of India have works of the artist in their collections.
Has won various prizes in the painting exhibitions in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia.
Currently professor at the Latvian Academy of Arts.
