VILIS OZOLS
Born in 1929. Professional training –
Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga
(1949 – I 952), Latvian Academy of
Arts, Painting Department (1962 – 1958) under the
supervision of Prof. E. Kalnins.
Has been contributing to exhibitions since
1956. Member of Latvian Artists' Union since 1961. Member
of Association "B 13" since 1993.
Had several solo shows: in Dole in 1982
(with I. Vecozols); at Naukseni in 1986; in Riga in 1989;
in Valmiera and Cesis in 1989 (with S. Ozolina); in
Munich in 1993 (with I. Vecozols), Osnabruk (1995). Has
participated in group exhibitions in Latvia, Lithuania,
Moscow, Germany, Japan, USA, Canada, France and many
other places.
His works are to be found in the
collections of Latvia's Ministry of Culture and Latvian
Artists' Union, Ministry of Culture of Russia and Russian
Art Fund, Tretiakov Gallery in Moscow, Wagner Gallery in
Munich, as well as in the galleries and private
collections of many countries.
Has received various awards for his
creations. Currently professor at the Latvian Academy of
Arts.
