VITA MERCA

Born in 1951. Professional training – Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga (1963 – 1970), Latvian Academy of Arts, Painting Department (1970 – 1977) – under the supervision of Prof. E. Kalnins. Has enhanced her skills in the post – graduate Master Studio of the USSR Art Academy in Riga.
Has been contributing to exhibitions since 1976. Member of Latvian Artists' Union since 1980. Member of Association "B – 13" (1993 - 1998) since 1993.
Had two solo shows: in Jelgava 1991 and in Riga 1993. Has par- ticipated regularly in group exhibitions in Riga, Vilnius, Moscow, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Italy, France, Japan and elsewhere. Her works are to be found in the collections of the State Art Museum, Latvian Artists' Union, Jelgava Art Museum, as well as in many private collections in Latvia, Canada, USA, Sweden, Germany.
Currently teaching at Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga.
