ANDRIS ZACESTS

Born in 1950. Professional training: Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga (1962 - 1969), Painting Department at the Latvian Academy of Arts (1969 - 1975); professor I. Zarins' Master Studio. Improvement course at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts and Vilnius Art Institute.
Contributor to exhibitions since 1974. A member of the B - 13 Association
(1993 - 1998) since 1993.
Four personal exhibitions in Latvia and group exhibitions in Riga, Moscow, Germany.
His works are to be found in the collections of the State Art Museum and Artists' Union of Latvia, as well as in private collections in Latvia and abroad.
Currently professor at the Latvian Academy of Arts.

"I am enthralled by the classical values of painting, metaphysical nature of things and their symbolic significance. In my work I am trying to combine this with the paradoxical thinking of contemporary art."
