ALEKSEJS NAUMOVS

Born in 1955. Professional training – Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga (1967 – 1973), the Latvian Academy of Arts, Painting Department (1973 – 1979) – under the supervision of Prof. I. Zarins. From 1987 to 1988 studied at the Sorbonne University in Paris. Taught at Seatle, Bremen, Kampen Art Schools.
Has been contributing to exhibitions since 1977. Member of Latvian Artists' Union since 1980. Member of Association "B – 13" (1993 - 1998) since 1993.
Had his solo shows: in Paris, 1987; in England, 1988; in Riga, 1989; in Germany, 1990; in Paris, 1990; in the USA, I 990; in Riga, l 990; in Germany, 1991; in the USA, 1991; in Riga, 1992; in Gotland, 1992; in Riga, 1994, Denmark, 1995, Arte Fierra Bologna 1995, 1996, Euroart, Geneva1997, Art Expo, New York 1997, Gallery Ciris Riga,1997. Has participated in group exhibitions in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Czechoslovakia, Genmany, USA, Poland, Italy, Finland, Morocco, England and elsewhere. Placed first in Fresco Biennale in Dozza, Italy 1995.
His works are to be found in the collections of the State Art Museum and Latvian Artists' Union, Ministry of Culture of Russia and Russian Art Fund, in many galleries and private collections in Latvia, Germany, France. England, Italy and other countries.
Currently professor, Vice-rector at the Latvian Academy of Arts.
