IRENA LUSE

Born in 1948. Professional training: Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga (1959 - 1966), Painting Department at the Latvian Academy of Arts (1966 - 1972) under the supervision of professor E. Kalnins.
Contributor to exhibitions since 1974. A member of the Artists' Union of Latvia as of 1974. A member of the B - 13 Association (1993 - 1998) since 1993.
A personal exhibition in Riga in 1994 and group exhibitions in Riga, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vilnius, Bulgaria, Poland, Germany, France, and the United States.
Her works are to be found in the State Art Museum and Artists' Union of Latvia, Ministry of Culture of Russia, Russian Art Fund, as well as in many private collections in Latvia and abroad.
Currently teaching at the Latvian Academy of Arts.

"Each medium has its own secret. By choosing pastel I am trying to discover its secrets. I think its refined color range is perfectly suited for the rendering of a woman's changing moods and diversity of her feelings."
