BORISS BERZINS
Born in 1930, died in 2002. Professional training: Janis Rozentals
Art School of Riga (1947 - 1949), the Applied Arts School of Riga
(1949 - 1952), Painting Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts
(1952 - 1959) under the supervision of professor E. Kalnins.
A regular participant of exhibitions since 1956. A member of the Artists'
Union of Latvia as of 1961.
The painter has had several personal shows in Latvia and abroad and
has taken part in group exhibitions in Riga, Moscow, Vilnius, Leningrad,
Poland, Germany, France, Great Britain, and many other countries.
Was a professor at the Latvian Academy of Arts, corresponding member
of the Russian Academy of Arts. From 1988 to 1992 he headed the postgraduate
master workshop at the Latvian Academy of Arts.
In 1979 he won the 2nd prize and in 1983 the 3rd prize at the International
Exhibition of Drawings in Great Britain.
